How do we define a site in DNS ?

1.Create a Site (In Active Directory Sites and Services)

2.Assign Subnets to a Site (Can be multiple subnets)

3.Assign Domain Controllers to a Site

  • When you create a new site, it is saved in DNS as a sub zone. (Naming conventions of a site must work with DNS).
  • SRV Records for services hosted in the site (such as an authenticating DC, a GC etc.) are saved within these site sub zones within DNS.
  • Clients query DNS for SRV records within it’s own Site sub zone to find local reasources.
